THE FIRST SHOT

1938 ELECTION CAMPAIGN FRANKLIN ELECTORATE The first shot in the 1938 election campaign as far as Franklin electorate is concerned, will he fired by the Labour candidate, Mr E. Piggott, at the Buckland hall at 8 o’clock on Saturday night. While the date of the election has not been announced oilicially, it is expected that it will take place in midOctober. There is also a possibility that the date will fall on* a Saturday. The National candidate, Mr J. N. Massey, will not open his campaign until the sitting member, Mr A. C. A. Sexton, Independent Country Party, returns to the electorate from Wellington where he is engaged on the business of the country. This is indeed a very fair attitude a.nd proves that as far as the Franklin seo.t is concerned it will be contested in a sporting spirit.
