Golf Tourney for Returned Soldiers

The returned soldiers and ex-ser-vicemen’s annual golf tournament arranged by the Pukekohe club took place on the local links on Sunday under pleasant weather conditions. Eighty-eight competitors took the field including members of South African contingents, Irpperial Forces, Australian and New Zealand units.
Results are as follow*: — Thirty-six hole gross.—C. Clements, 150; runner-up, A. Woolley, 159. Diggers’ stroke match: T. H.'Horne, 140 net; runner-up, J. R. Barber, 143. Gallipoli stableford: A. Bartley, 37; runner-up, E. Ohlson, 36. Passchendaele bogey.: A. Milliken, all square: N. F. Rigby, all square; Dr: G. E. Howden, all square. On a count back Milliken was placed first and Rigby and Howden wdre second and third respectively. Teams’ stroke match, 36 holes: New Zealand Field Artillery (Virtue 149, Walters 145, Walsh 149, Barber 143) —total 586; runners-up, Otago Infantry (Cashmore 147, Milliken 145, Clements 150, E. E. Jones -147) —total 589.
At the conclusion of the day’s play Mr S. D. Rice of Papakura, presented the trophies to the winners.
THE PUKEKOHE CLUB On Saturday next a four-ball bestball bogey competition will be played by members of the Pukekohe Golf Club. Play commences at 12.45 p.m. and thereafter at- five-minute intervals. The official starter is Mr G. Hansen.
