MARRIED FIFTY YEARS.

MR AND MRS DAVENPORT. GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. Mr and Mrs Percy Payne Davenport, who recently took up their residence in Pukekohe, celebrated the50th anniversary of their wedding today. Mr Davenport was born in 1861 at Birchfleld hail, Birchfields, Birmingham, and is a son of the late Mr John Davenport, who was a member of the firm of brewers and maltsters in Birmingham which was established over 200 years ago. Mrs Davenport was Miss Laura Janet Price of Handsworth Wood, and is a daughter of Mr Frederick Price, a member of the firm of Bower-Price and son, barristers and solicitors, of Paradise street, Birmingham. Mr and Mrs Davenport were married at St. Mary’s parish church, Handsworth, Birmingham, on March. 31, 1887, by the Rev. Dr. Randall. Mr Davenport was a chartered accountant (London). 1-Ie went to Canada in 1905 and remained there until 1925 when he retired and came to New Zealand accompanied by Mrs Davenport. They took up their residence at Birkenhead where they resided until recently, leaving there to settle in Pukekohe.

Mr and Mrs Davenport have one son and one daughter living in Canada, and one son —Mr N. C.‘ Davenport —living in Pukekohe. There are five grandchildren. , •
