Maoris Charged with Fighting in Public.

TWO FINES IMPOSED. FOUR PROHIBITION ORDERS. A disturbance in the bar of Hie Pukekohe hotel on Friday evening led to three Maoris, Tangi Wipa, Taka Montgomery and Tuku Wehewehc, being charged in the Pukekohe Police Court, on Saturday with lighting in a public place. The men, who were arrested by Constable W. Mawhinney. appeared before Messrs D. R. Hamilton and D. McC. Armstrong, J.P’s. It being held that Montgomery had been attempting to separate Wipa and Wehewehe, the charge against him was dismissed. Wipa and Wehewehe were each convicted and fined I Os. The three men, together with a fourth; who appeared as a witness, were prohibited for 12 months.
