NOTES FROM PUNI.

WOMEN’S DIVISION AFFAIRS

In spite of a very wet day a most successful bazaar was held under the auspices of the women’s division in the 'Puni half last week. The bazaar was opened by Mr J. N. Massey, M.P., who gave an appropriate address. Mrs Massey was presented with a lovely bouquet by Mrs Hooper -. (vice-presi-dent)..., , t , ~.v . . . . During the evening various competiti oris we re held 'and - the ; bazaar was well, patronised. The headmaster of the Puni school, Mr J. Wilcox, 1 was of great assistance and. at the end auctioned the few remaining articles from the produce stall. The following were in charge of the stalls: Sewing stall, Mesdames McNeil and Pritchard; produ'ce stall, Mesdames Bennett. Hoe, and Miss Fallows; tea rooms, Mesdames Mansfield, Jeffcoate, Woods and Miss Olive Preece: flower stall, Mesdames Gillanders and Connell; mystery cabbage, Mrs Gibson: bran tub, Mrs McGlade and Miss D. Fallows; sweets and confectionery, Mesdames Hooper, Duke and J. Douglas.

Guessing competitions resulted: — Pen painted cushion, Edna King; knitted cushion, Mrs Hinton (Pukekohe East): brass nut bowl, D. Smithson; fruit plate, Mrs Jeffcoate; iced cake (I), Mr Mason; (2), Mr Bent: nail driving, Mrs Morgan (Pukekohe East); candle lighting, Mr Rogers; a sportge competition resulted: Mrs Hoe i, Mrs .T. Douglas 2. MERCER NEWS.

On Tuesday evening the Mercer Tennis Club held another of the series of card parties to raise funds for improvements to the courts. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable time was spent. Prizes for euchre were won by Mrs A. E. Pryor and Mr W. Graham, the consolations going to Mrs Kerr and Mr Soussey.
