The death has occurred at Henderson of Mr Duncan Campbell Sheffield, aged 88, a former resident of Bombay and Pokeno.

The engagement is announced of Loris, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Wells of Pukekawa, to Raymond, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Daley of Pukekawa.

Mr L. M. Ovens of the Waiuku branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his transfer to Pukekohe branch, to fill the vacancy caused by the transfer of Mr L. E. Snell to Rotorua.

A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs H. M. Naylor, a former resident of Harrisville, was passed by the Tuakau Town Board at its meeting on Monday evening.

Mr G. G. Littlejohn, Christchurch manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, and formerly manager of the Pukekohe National Bank, is to visit England on bank business. He will sail from Auckland by the Akaroa on Friday, and expects to be away for about six months. Mr Littlejohn will pass through Pukekohe on the Limited express on Friday morning.

Mr K. W. McKinney, M.A., has completed his Theological studies at Knox College, Dunedin, and is to be licensed by the Auckland Presbytery next month. Mr McKinney, who is the elder son of Mr and Mrs -T. B. McKinney of Bombay, is an old student of Pukekohe Technical High School. He took his B.A. degree at the Auckland University College in 1931, and in 1933 graduated M.A. with honours in philosophy at the Otago University.

The death occurred at his home at Epsom this week of Mr William Campbell Mitchell, a director and auctioneer of thn firm of Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited, at the age of 53 years. Mr Mitchell was very well known throughout Franklin. He visited Pukekohe regularly on the firm’s sale days, and his genial personality and happy disposition on the rostrum made him exceedingly popular with the farmers of the district. Mr Mitchell was an outstanding judge of fat stock. He is survived by Mrs Mitchell and three daughters.
