Pretty Wedding at St. Patricks Cathedral.
A NEW YEAR CEREMONY. MURPHY—HENRY. BRIDE IN RICH WHITE SATIN. A very pretty wedding- was solem • nised at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Auckland, on Thursday, January 3, the contracting parties being Myrtle Inez Henry, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Henry of Patumahoe, and Thomas Augustine Murphy of Hamilton. The Rev. Father J. Molloy of Pukekohe, officiated and Miss Nell Ormond was at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful frock of rich white satin cut on simple, lines, the back panel forming a small train, and long tight-fitting sleeves falling in points over the wrists. An unusual note was introduced by the high neckline held in place with a mother of pearl clasp and buttoned down the
back with tiny white satin buttons. Her lace veil formed a simple headdress caught in place around the back of the head with orange blossoms, and fell in soft folds to form a train. She carried a sheaf of white gladioli and asparagus fern. The bride was attended by her twin sister, Mrs J. P. Clark, as matron of honour, and her youngest sister, Miss Josephine Henry, as bridesmaid. Mrs Clark wore a long frock of shell pink lace, cuf on flowing lines with long tight fitting sleeves and a large pink hat to match. She carried a pretty bouquet of mixed blue flowers and maidenhair fern. Miss Henry wore a saxe blue lace frock and blue hat to match and carried a bouquet of pale pink flowers with maidenhair and asparagus fern.
Mr Kevin' Murphy, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Roland Henry, brother of the bride, was groomsman.
At the reception held in the Farmers’ Trading Company’s tearooms, Mrs Henry received her guests wearing a brown and fawn ensemble with a large brown hat. She carried a bouquet of orange gerberas, sweet peas and shaded gladioli blossoms, with maidenhair and asparagus fern. Mrs Murphy, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black and white ensemble and carried a beautiful bouquet of scarlet gerberas and mixed flowers and ferns Mrs Gallagher, grandmother of the bride, wore black and lavender ensemble and carried a lavender bouquet of mixed flowers and fern. The usual toasts were honoured by
about 70 guests and after receiving the good wishes of friends and relatives the happy couple departed for Wellington by car—the latter being a gift to the bride from her father.' The bride’s going away frock was a dusky rose ensemble with fawn hat and crocodile shoes and bag to tone., Mr and Mrs Murphy will reside at Tararu, Thames North.
