PADDY'S MARKET.

DRURY SCHOOL FUNDS AUGMENTED OVER £2O REALISED. To raise funds for the Drury school, a Paddy's Market was held in the Drury hall last week. A very fine assortment of articles was displayed on the various stalls, which created a very favourable impression among the large number of people wlio wore present during the afternoon and evening, and a -rood business was done. The total takings reached the sum of £2O. an amount which was eminently satisfactory in view of present circumstances. Mr J. N. Massey, member for Franklin, officiated at the opening ceremony and in the course of his remarks congratulated the lady helpers and the school committee on the enterprise shown to raise funds for the school. After the conclusion of the business, a very enjoyable dance was held,

the music being supplied by Mr 0. Dance. Mi' T. Oossoy was M.O. The slall holders and assistants were as follows : Sweets slall: V : sses Gardiner. Brooks, .larvie and Oolson. Bran tub: Mesdames Rankin and May. Produce slall: Mesdames Sharpo and Dance. Cake slall: Mrs W. Brooks. Tea rooms: Mesdames F. Appleby and E. Fielding. Gookery competitions: Mrs Rankin. Plain and fancy goods stall: Mrs S. Appleby. Draper and Doull. Sheep guessing: Mr P. Hayes. The winners of the competitions were as follow: —Sheep weight guessing. Mr S. Appleby: supper set, Mrs Willcocks: throw-over, Mr S. Appleby: decorated cake, Miss E. Gossey; Persian kill en. Miss E. Hayes; dressed doll.. Miss J. Sharpe: cookery competitions, sponge sandwich, Miss K. Gossey: madeira cake, Mrs E. Fielding; assorted biscuits. Mrs Cleverly: short bread. Mrs Cleverly: scones, Mrs J. Gossey: preserved fruit. Mrs Cleverly: scones. Misses Pat Flay and Hilda Gossey: sponge sandwich, Miss Phyllis Cossey; scones (boys). Master Lewis Wright.
