AMALGAMATION OF POWER BOARDS.

The monthly meeting of the Mauku branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Mauku hall last week, the president, Mr A. Woolsey, presiding over an average attendance of members;

The Auckland board's charges were 30-per cent lower than the Franklin board's, which will tend to make farmers think more seriously about amalgamating with Auckland, especially after the recent actions of the Franklin board. ~,,,. Dissatisfaction was expressed over the Government's action hi' charging duty on wheat recently imported from Australia, it being stated that: a chance .of cheapening the loaf being therefore thrown away.
