Mr R. Ross, of Tuakau, who received a fractured leg when playing football on Saturday week, is reported to be progressing favourably. He has been discharged from the Auckland hospital and is staying with relatives.

Prior to the- commencement of the ordinary business at the annual meeting of the Franklin Racing Club on Monday evening, the president, Mr D. Fulton, referred to the death of Mrs Reynolds, mother of Mr Joseph Reynolds and mother-in-law of Mr F. J. Morrow, two members of the club's executive. The meeting expressed its sympathy to both members.

At the annual meeting of the Franklin Racing Club on Monday evening, votes of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr H. A. Stuart, and Mr Jas. Keith, both foundation members of the club, were passed. In moving the motion, the president, Mr Dynes Fulton, stated that the late Mr Stuart was .a valued member of the executive from the outset and had given yeoman service in the interests of the smooth running and progress of the club. The late Mr Keith was a well-known resident of Franklin, and was one of its keenest sportsmen. He was a regular attender at the club's race meetings and always thoroughly enjoyed the day's sport. It was a great blow to the club to lose such valuable members, concluded Mr Fulton.
