TOUR CONCLUDED.
MORTGAGORS’ COMMISSION. SATISFACTORY RESULTS. The Auckland Mortgagors’ Adjustment Commission has just concluded its second tour and it is understood the results obtained have been most satisfactory as a number of voluntary settlements between the mortgagors and mortgagees have been arrived at. Some cases have been referred back to the courts with the recommendation of the Commission as to the terms of settlement, but in most cases this was not necessary as the parties concerned agreed to the terms suggested to them. It is a great mistake to consider all mortgagees as wealthy people as wealthy people as many, often old people or widows, are entirely dependent on the interest from their mortgage and in such cases the question of relative hardship has had to be carefully gone into.
Generally speaking, however, it is safe to say that the mortgagor or lessee who tries to pay his interest and to farm properly, is receiving every possible consideration and need have no fear of losing his property.
