Mr E. E. Ingpen, of Pukekohe, who has been on a visit to Feilding, returned home on Monday.
Mr D. R. Hamilton, secretary of the Franklin A. and P. Society, is visiting the Hamilton Show.
Mr J. Curtayne, district supervisor, Government National Provident Fund, is at present on a visit to this dis, trict.
Mr Justice Hosking, who is indisposed, has been granted 12 months’ leave of absence. He proposes to visit England.
The Ashburton Hospital Board has selected, from eight applicants, Dr Billcliff, of Dunedin Hospital, as resident superintendent to succeed Dr Wells, who resigned to take private practice. The department has approved of Dr Billcliff’s appointment.
Major J. T. Graham, of the Australian Defence Staff, visited Lieut. A. R. Hatt and relatives, Pukekohe, on November 20. Major Graham is on leave, and returns by the Sydney boat next Friday., He was with the Main Body N.Z. Ex. Force on Gallipoli and France.
His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Jellicoe, who was to have unveiled the Bombay War Memorial to-morrow, has intimated that owing to the illness of his daughter, the Hon. Prudence Jellicoe, he will be unable to perform the ceremony, and arrangements have been made for the Mayor of Auckland, Mr J. H. Gunson, to fill the vacancy.
The death of Mr F, W. B. Greville, editor and proprietor of the ©Jew Zealand Dairyman, occurred in Wellington on Sunday. Mr Greville was Well known throughout the Dominion in connection with the dairy industry. ■He was a son of the late Mr Joseph Greville,’ one of New Zealand’s early settlers, and was born at Launceston, Tasmania, 67 years ago.
