CONTAMINATED POWDER NOT LIKELY TO BE IN DUNEDIN
Although there is ljlb of contaminated senna powder somewhere in New Zealand, it is felt that Dunedin is not likely to be affected, because the medical offcer of health, Dr G. 0 L. Dempster, has received no advice on the subject from Christchurch, where the powder was sold. A bag of the powder issued from the Christchurch warehouse of Kenipthorne, Prosser, and Co. was recently found to he not true to label, and, although most of the powder was recovered from the chemists supplied by the distributing firm, it appears that lslb had been sold over the counter to members of the public. It is felt in Dunedin that the possibility of any of the powder being in this city is remote, unless someone purchased it in Christchurch and brought it south. The nature of the contamination has not yet been discovered, but the substance is stated to be dangerous,- although its effect would denend on the condition of the person taking it.
