PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED IN ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
The following, promotions in the St. John Ambulance Brigade have been sanctioned by the' priory commissioner:—J. H. Guthrie, ambulance officer, and G. M. Aitkenhead, sergeant, Hillside Ambulance Division; Dr A. M. T. Dickie, surgeon, Dunedin Ambulance Division; Mrs G. E. Rishworth and Mrs C. L. Hanley, corporals, Edith Cavell Nursing Division; Maurice Reynolds, corporal, Hillside Cadet Ambulance Division • Ann Arthur, lady cadet officer, North-east Valley Nursing Cadets; G. G. Schmidt, corporal, Kaikorai Ambulance Division. The Otago provincial (adult) competition will be Held in' the Town Hall, Dunedin, on Saturday, October 27, and the interdistrict cadet competitions on Saturday, October 11. In 1948 interdistrict competitions will be held for both adults and cadets, cadets on March 13 and the seniors on March 20. The brigade ball will be held this year in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Wednesday, August 6. The following members of cadet divisions were recently successful in gaining proficiency certificates in the subjects mentioned: — 'r Hillside Nursing Cadets.—History of the order: Ngaire Hewitt, Eileen Reynolds, Mavis Pattison, Dawn Nelson, and Marjorie Reynolds. Mosgiel Nursing Cadets. —Hygiene: Margaret Preston, Valerie Spence, Irene Graham, Nancy Ross, Jennifer Preston, Joyce Smith, Jean Scott, Margaret McLennan, Rose Adams, Valerie Evans, Shirley Chirnside, Meryl Young, and Sylvia Benkie. Green Island Nursing Cadets.— Hygiene: Lorraine- Rennie, Valerie Price, Doreen McClean, Joy Vivian, Dawn Hay, Dawn Vivian,; Diane Martin, Elaine Cotton. Joyce Dale, Veronica McPhelan, Hilda Brockie, Gwen Price, Violet Price, Dale Parata, Raymer Adkins, Karen Simpson, Dawn Hadfield,' Valerie Taylor, Valerie Dale, Betty Vivian, Jean Wylie, Tui Bain, Joan Lucas, Margaret Stewart, and Mary Todd.
