PROPOSED RESTRICTION OF DOLLARS SPENT ON IMPORTED FILMS

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. The Government has decided. to seek legislative authority to enable it to reduce dollar expenditure oil imported films if it should be necessary in future, says ‘ The Times.-’ The Chancellor of the Exchequer. Mr H. Dalton, tabled a resolution in the House of Commons seeking an amendment to the Finance Bill to give the Government power to impose a duty on the net profits made by imported films. The present Customs duty on films has no relation to their possible earnings.
