GURKHAS TO HELP SUPPRESS ARAKAN REBELLION

(Rec. 11.15 a.m.) RANGOON. May 16. A troopship carrying Gurkha reinforcements left (Rangoon last night for Akvab to help suppress the Arakan rebellion. It is reported that rebels established strongholds near Sandoway and llamree 'lsland. It is officially reported that 3,000 followers of the arrested former Buddhist monk U Seinda, leader of the Arakan separatist movement, raided the police court m one town. The police dispersed them with small arms fire, killing two.
