VICKERS VIKING REACHES HARWOOD WITH 27 PEOPLE
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 2._ The VickerG Viking passenger airliner arrived at Ha rewood l from Paraparaumu at 8.20 a.m. to-day, and returned north this afternoon. The plane carried 27 people, including crew and several travellers who left the Auckland-Wellington express at Paekakariki at 6.2 ft a.m. to-day, and who travelled' to Paraparaumu by bus. They took off in the Viking at 7.10 a.m. and lauded at Harewood at* 8.25 a.m.. and connected with the Invercargill express at 8.35' a.m. It was an interesting demonstration of the possibilities of co-ordinating air-rail travel. The other travellers included North Island local body representatives who were entertained by the Mayor of Christchurch. Mr E. H. Andrews, and later were the guests of the Railways "Department at lunch. Official visitors returned north in the Viking this afternoon.
