GERMANY SHOULD PAY

DEMAND FOR PROVISION IN PEACE TREATY

WASHINGTON, March 4

The American Jewish Conference in ,a statement prepared for the Secretary of State, Mr C.eorge Marshall, and the British, French, and Soviet Ambassadors, urged that the peace treaty with Germany require .the payment of reparations to the Jewish people. The statement said the treaty must include the following: First, Germany must acknowledge guilt for crime against Jews and punish those responsible and those who benefited; secondly, anti-semitism must be outlawed; thirdly, Germany must, indemnify Jewish victims and restore property taken from Jews; fourthly, the property of Jews who were murdered and left no heirs must be handed over to au international, Jewish body to aid relief and resettlement of Jewish victims of persecution.; fifthly, Jews must have a right to emigrate from Germany with their belongings; sixthly, Jews now in Germany must have continued protection of the international authorities, but Germany must contribute to their maintenance.
