BLUE CROSS SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING There was . a large attendance of members at the annual, meeting of the Blue Cross Animal Welfare Society held last night. The president (Miss R. S. Barth), was in the chair. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the president said >that the year had . been a inbcessful one, 25 new members having been enrolled. A bequest of £7OO had been received from the estate of the late .Mr A. E. Harraway, and in December a garden; party at the home of Mr-andi Mrs R.: H. Stevenson had resulted' in the raising of £lO7. The society; she said', hoped to purchase an animal ambulance,> and it had also been decided to erect kennels at the S. grounds. Arrangements were in hand for the formation, of a . junior branch of the society. - Miss 1 Barth pointed out that the society had been asked: to . provide an examination for St. John Ambulance, cadets. The motion was carried.

The following office-bearers were elected Patron, the Mayor, Mr Cameron; president, Miss Barth; vicepresidents, Mesdames C. L. Austin, A. Watson, Misses M. Hoskins, A. Roy, Mr A. Ibbotson, and Dr S. Fromm; secretary, Mrs C. L. Mackay; assistant secretary, Miss Roy; .treasurer, Miss M: Stuart; Press representatives, Mrs M. Mitchell, and Miss A. Inglis; committee —Mesdames Hanley, Williamson, O’Connell, Griffiths, J. McDonald, 1 ' .Misses I Barth, and R. Nicolson; hon. solicitor, Mr M. Hanan; trustees— Messrs I). C. Cameron, R. H. Stevenson, and A. dp Beer. During the evening, Mesdames E. Westland, and M. Guy played a piano duet, Mrs Westland a piano, solo, and Miss B. Errington contributed a vocal solo. A moving picture taken by Mr McClelland at the society’s picnic at Sandlymount, was also shown.
