GENEVA TRADE TALKS

LABOUR FEDERATION'S DELEGATE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 4. Selected yesterday by the National Executive of the Federation of Labour as that organisation’s representative at the international trade and emplovment talks at Geneva, Mr J. H. Collins, of Wellington, completes the New Zealand delegation to the discussions. He is expected to leave within the next fortnight. Shortness of time and the necessity for early departure prevented the federation from calling nominations and holding a ballot as would have been wished, the federation stated. Mr Collins is one of the best-known members of the trade union movement in New Zealand, being secretary of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee for the past 12 years, vicepresident of the Wellington Trades Council for two years, and executive member of the council for nine years. He is secretary of the New Zealand Brewery Workers’ Union, among other i unions.
