BUILDING LEVELLED
TERRIFIC EXPLOSION IN CHICAGO HEAVY CASUALTY LIST NEW YORK, Marqh 2. Two explosions levelled a threestory building in- the heart of the inain business • district in Chicago to"tlay, killing at least two persons and injuring 50. The explosions, which are attributed to an accumulation of gas in a' restaurant, caused damage estimated at 1,000,000 dollars. The two persons billed were hurled 30ft in the, rfr with large slabs of the footpath, and landed on the lines of an elevated railway in front of the wrecked building. Police and firemen said that only the fact that the explosion occurred on a Sunday averted a major disaster. ,
