Air Passengers. Passengers from the north on Wednesday were Mrs J. Tait, Mr R. M. Cox, Mr J. W. Wilson, Mr J. Hunter, Mr A. Youngman, Mrs H, Anderson, Mrs E. Brooker, Mr P. J. Cassin, Mrs Cassin and infant, Miss A. E. Stone, Miss O’Donnell, Mrs A. Cormack. Passengers for the north to-day were Mr T. H. Wynne-Lewis, Mr H. C. Hassall, Mr H. Butland (Christchurch). Mr J. P. Mac Neil, Miss A. Perry, Mrs A. Lattie and infant, Mr H. J. McPhail. Mrs L. T. Burnard (Wellington), Mr E. T. Shand, Mr J. Gooseman (Palmerston North), Miss E. Brown. Mr R. J. Knowles, Miss A. Young (Auckland), Mr B. W. Boys (Napier).
Mr W. A. Hudson, M.P., left this morning for Wellington. Messrs S. Lawn and M. Poulter left this morning for Rotorua to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation. , , The Minister tor France in -New Zealand, M. Armarid Gazel, arrived in Dunedin yesterday from Wellington.
At the - monthly meeting of the Otago Education Board yesterday, Messrs W. Jacobsen and W. R. -Brugh were appointed the* board’s representatives on the Otago High Schools Board, and Mr W. Cooper was appointed its re- 1 prfisentative on the Board of Governors of the Waitaki High Schools Board. . Dr Guy H. Seholfield, Parliamentary Librarian, and Dominion Archivist, is visiting Dunedin for a few .days on research connected with Archives and the Parliamentary Record. . Reference to the deaths of Mrs K. Downing and Mr Willi Fels was made by the retiring president, Dr G. C. Billing, in his report to the annual meeting of the Otago branch of the United Nations , Association, last night. Both had been members of 'the* branch council for a number of years. ' The appointment of a woman diplomat, one of three in the service of his country, to his staff as third seijretary was announced to-day by: the Canadiau High Commissioner, Mr A. H. Rive. She is Miss Agnes Ireland, who lias sailed from New York in the City of Swansea, and is due at Auckland about March 10. Mr Rive said that Miss Ireland had been some time at the “ New Zealand desk ” in the Department of. External Affairs at Ottawa, so was fairly well acquainted with developments here. She was & graduate of both a Canadian university, and the famous Bryn Mawr, long-established women’s college, near Philadelphia. . : ! '- - -
