KIND LINK BEATS THE CRACKS
(Rec. 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 15. The smallest horse in the field, Kind Link, won thejOakleigh Plate at Caulfield from 25 ‘of Australia’s fastest sprinters. She followed the pace set by (Rhythm Queen to the turn for home and then moved away easily to win by one and a-quarter lengths from Glenfern and Hispano. Her time was a second outside the record.' A hot favourite in Chisel 'Beach was not sighted. Kind Link has now won four of her last six races.
• Attley scored brilliantly in the St. George Stakes and lmil.'little trouble in fighting off the challenge of the Melbourne Cup winner, Russia. It was expected that the champion mare, Flight, would worry Attley at the nine furlongs, but Flight developed poor form and finished fourth. Attley has now won 12j races and £14,280 in stakes in 31 starts.
Logical, the. Sydney Cup candidate, easily outstayed his opponents in the Bond Handicap. Coming from fourth at the turn, with a wide sweep he mowed down the leaders and ran on to a four ( lengths’ victory from Cherie Marie.
