ARAB SHEIK MURDERED

ARAB SHIEK MURDERED

((Rec. 8 a.m.) JERUSALEM, Feb. 15. The police announced that two armed Jewish youths raided a cafe in Patach Tiwvah, near Tel-Aviv, and kidnapped a'2o-year-old Jew. The police believe it is another move in the interJewish political warfare. Sheik Ali Shanin, a former mayor of Jaffa, was murdered at the door of his home last night by an unknown Arab. The murderer is believed to have a political motive. Shahin opposed the leadership of the Mufti of Jerusalem.

The Jewish owners of flats and apartments in Jerusalem, who were evicted early this week to make way for British troops, left booby traps and damaged the flats. Six British soldiers who received injuries from the traps were treated in hospital.
