TWO DISCOVERED BY BYRD EXPEDITION MORE ACCURATE WEATHER FORECASTS POSSIBLE (Rec. 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 16. More accurate weather forecasts in the Southern Hemisphere may be possible as the result of data amassed by the Byrd Expedition. Two “ birthplaces ” of storms have been found, one between Wilke’s Island and Australia, the second near Neter Island, apd a. clearer picture has been obtained . of the influence of Polar cold and Polar ice movements on both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. In seven weeks the expedition has remapped nearly one-quarter of the vast South Polar coast line, this advance in geography being described as “ most spectacular.” Among the discoveries are eight new mouptain ranges, at least 20 islands, five bays, and several peninsulas.
