WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) REMANDS GRANTED. • George MeCorkindale, labourer, aged 64, was charged with on January 14 breaking and entering by day the dwelling of Melville Smith Dick, at Pukihiki, with intent to commit theft.—At the request of Chief-detec-tive T. Y. Hall, the accused was remanded until January 22. Bail was not asked for. .Charged with having indecently assaulted a female at Waikouaiti on December 12 last, John Beattie, a blacksmith, aged 33, was remanded until Wednesday next. The accused did not make application for bail. COMMITTED.FOR SENTENCE. Henry James Cuthbertson, a farm hand, aged 33, for whom Mr A. G. Neill ' appeared, was charged with having unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 16 years of age.—Evidence was given by the girl concerned, who stated her age as 14 years and 10 months, by relatives of that witness, and by Sergeant J. P. Mather.—Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
