MINOR WATERFRONT DISPUTE FAR-REACHING CONSEQUENCES FEARED SYDNEY, January 9. A small dispute. which began when timber was being unloaded from the New Zealand barque Pamir at Circular Quay threatens to develop into a serious hold-up on the Sydney waterfront. The watersiders demanded an extra two t men in the Pamir’s holds, and when this was not granted they walked off the ship. To-day they refused to return to the job and were automatically suspended by the Port Committee. As a result all the other men present refused to ansiver calls for ' labour, leaving a number of inter-State . ships without gangs. All the nje'n returning to. ithe. piok-up centre, after completing their present jobs will automatically become involved in the \ dispute, which thus can paralyse thfc entire waterfront.
