BAN ON SMERTENKO

BRITISH AUTHORITIES WATCHING MOVEMENTS (Rec. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 9. The Vice-President of the American League for Free Palestine, Professor Johan Smertenko, has arrived in Paris, where he said he was staying a few days, says the Paris correspondent of the Associated Press. Reuter states that the Home Secretary. Mr Chuter Ede, instructed immigration officers at airports throughout Britain to see that the order against Smertenko’s landing is enforced. This means that if he succeeds in landing in a British or other plane he will be put on the next available plane to the United States. Reuter says the representatives of Jewish 'organisations in London are unanimous that Smertenko should not be allowed to come to Britain.
