STEAMERS COLLIDE IN BALTIC
NEARLY 300 HORSES DROWNED LONDON, January 4. A Copenhagen message says that 281 horses were drowned when a 1,000ton Norwegian ship, Magnhild, bound for Danzig, collided in the Baltic with the Russian steamer Umba. The Magnhild sank almost immediately, and her crew, numbering 18, were rescued by a nearby British destroyer, the Farnaale, and brought to Copenhagen.
