MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL I _____ At the monthly meeting of the Otago University Council yesterday there were.present the Chancellor (the Very Rev. D. C. Herron), the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Professor R. Jack, the Rev. H. J. ■Tyburn, and Messrs D. C. Cameron, W. R. Brugh, H. P. Kidson, Carl V. Smith, A. Steel, I. J. Garden, and E. Partridge. ' Resolutiohs of sympathy were passed to the relatives of the late Sir Louis Barnett and Mr W. H. Skinner. A letter was received from the secretary of the Otago Hospital Board (Mr John Jacobs) stated that the applications made by the council for the pathological and bacteriological departments and the Dental School were viewed sympathetically, and considera tion would be given in the board’s estimates next year. Advice was received from the New Zealand High Commissioner in London that the time of application for tin* Chair of Economics had been extended until October .'ll. Mr W. J. McEklowney was ap pointed reference' librarian and . Miss Betty Glasson library assistant.
