LOOTED DUTCH TREASURE
£8,000,000 WORTH STILL MISSING
BRITISH CAPTAIN CHARGED WITH COMPLICITY
(Rec. 10.55 a.m.) BATAVIA, Nov. 4. Captain J. R. H. Morton is appearing before a court martial’on a charge of improper possession of property belonging to the Dutch Government. The charge arises. from the ' case of ’ Nakamura treasure. A British < major and six Dutch civilians have already •been convicted on charges'in connection with the, disposal of £1,000,000 worth of jewellery, gold, and bank notes, which were part of the £9,000,000 worth looted by the Japanese, Captain Nakamura. The prosecution to-day alleged that Captain Morton retained portion of the treasure recovered from Carla Wolff, a Eurasian arrested after bragfing that she was sleeping on a golden ed. She is a prosecution witness, and is at present serving an eight months’ sentence. Eight million of the trea*ure is still missing. , >
