SECURITY OF TENURE
EXTENSION OF ACT TO BUSINESS PREMISES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 31 Security of tenure, similar to that given to tenants under the Fair Rents Act has been ex-
tended to tenants of business premises by an amendment to the Stabilisation Emergency Regulations gazetted to-night. The amendment specificially limits the grounds upon which a landlord may recover possession to the following :—(1) Non-payment of rent; (2) failure to take reasonable care; (3) becoming a nuisance; (4) where possession of the property is reasonably required by the landlord for his own occupation'; (5) part of the property in excess of that reasonably required by the tenant; (6) when the property has been sold and. the new. owner reasonably requires it for his own occupancy. - Apart from two and three above, application must he made to a court before possession can be secured, ana the court must consider the degree of hardship as between landlord and tenant, and in certain circumstances must be satisfied that. suitable alternative accommodation is available. .Sub-tenants are protected as under the Fair Rents Act.
