NO. 75 SQUADRON

FAMOUS NAME PERPETUATED (P.A.) WELLINGTON. October 18. The first of the rons to be equipped with Mosquito aircraft in the near future is to bear the name of the most famous of New Zealand’s squadrons. This was announced in an order promulgated by the Air Department, which provides for the changing of the title of No. 2 Squadron to No. 75 Squadron. The change of title was brought about as a result of a proposal by the Air Ministry in London that, in order to perpetuate the name of No.- 75 (N.Z.) Squadron. R.A.F., which earned .such distinction during the war, the number “75 ” should be adopted by the R.N.Z.A.F. for one of the regular post-war squadrons. The proposal was approved by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, and the new 75 Squadron Commander will be Wing-commander J. E. Watts, A.F.C.. of Marton.
