HEATH EXECUTED
HANGED AT PENTONVILLE MILLIONAIRESS ARRESTED FOR OBSTRUCTION LONDON, Oct. 16! Three minutes before Neville George Clevely Heath was executed at Pentonville prison at 9 a.m. for the murder of Mrs Margery Gardner, Mrs Van Der, Elst, millionairess campaigner, against capital punishment, drove up in a yellow Rolls-Royce, and showered the large crowd with leaflets protesting against Heath’s execution. A hundred persons pressed around' her as she distributed leaflets headed ‘ Fresh Evidence,’ alleging that Heath had been injured at birth and was “ a possessed madman, who should should have been sent to Broadmoor. ” The police .arrested her and took her to a police station, where she was chargea with, obstruction. . , Three men were arrested last night for; sticking bills on walls in the vicinity of the prison advocating the abolition of the death penalty. , The crowd rushed the gates or the prison when official notices were posted at 9.25 stating that Heath had been executed . Albert Pierrepoint carried out the execution. nv : A representative of Madame iussaud’s immediately telephoned the news to his office, so that an effigy of Heath could be placed in the Chamber of Horrors within an hour of the execution.
