ATOMIC BOMB HORROR
SURVIVORS THREATENED WITH CANCER EFFECT OF GAMMA RAY BURNS (Rec. 12.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 17. Many survivors of the atomic bomb attacks on Japan ' will develop cancer within the next 10 to 15 years as a result of burns from the Gamma rays, according to Colonel Ashley Oughterson, director of the American Cancer Society, and chairman of the joint commission investigating the effects of the bombs on the Japanese population. Colonel Oughterson also believed the survivors would have a tendency towards other diseases. The commission would continue its study for many years. * ij* 'j* 'l* 'ji 'i* *i' tj*
