The publio can look forward to a musical treat on Tuesday and Thursday next When Georges Thill will give two recitals in the Town Hall. He is considered one of the three best tenors in the world, rand the Wellington ‘ Post ’ states he possesses the most powerful voice ever heard in the Wellington Town Hall. He was one of the leaders of the Resistance Movement during the German ocoupation of France. During the 1914-18 war he served with the infantry and was decorated with the Croix de Guerre and made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. Immediately after the war Thill joined the Grand Opera de Paris, and became the leading tenor. Then began his rise to world fame as a lyric dramatic tenor. From that time till the beginning of World War 11. he received invitations for guest performances from practically every wellknown opera house in the world. He has sung in the Metropolitan Opera of New York, in Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, Colon, Buenos Aires, Vienna, Brussels, Monte Carlo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin and Moscow. Monsieur Thill’s repertoire includes arias from ‘ Tosea,’ ‘ Rigoletto,” ‘ Bal Masque,’ ‘ Gioeoiida,’ ‘Pagliacci,” and many others, also French, Italian, . Spanish, and other songs. He is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding artists that have visited the Dominion. Associated with him is Marcel Lorber, a brilliant pianist who is receiving a tremendous reception in New Zealand. The box plans for both concerts are now open at the D.I.C.
