“LUST FOR POWER”
AMERICAN WAR DEPARTMENT MR DONALD NELSON'S WARNING (ltee. 11 a.m.) . WASHINGTON, September 2. Mr Donald Nelson, former chairman of the War Production Board, in his book, ‘ Arsenal of Democracy,’ declares that throughout the war the army tried to gain control of the na-
tional economy, thereby hampering reconversion. Mr Nelson warns that the War Department henceforth will be “ one of the most important influential branches of the Government, and- the question of military control will confront us, not only in war, but in peace.” Mr Nelson described as pitiable the things said and done in the army’s “ inexcusable lust for power.”
