PENALTIES FOR DISCLOSURE WIDE SCOPE OF NEW BILL (Rec. 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, May 2, Gaol up to five years or a fine up to £SOO is the. penalty for/ the unauthorised disclosure of atomic informations under the Atomic Energy Bill, the text of which has now been released. The Bill empowers the Minister of Supply to promote the development of atomic energy. It gives power of control over the unauthorised production or use of atomic energy and the publication of information. The Minister is given the power of entry to any premises, where lie may search for minerals from which uranium and other prescribed substances are obtainable. He may vest in himself the right to work such minerals. The Minister may acquire compulsorily materials, plant, and contractual rights connected vvith atomic energy. The Comptroller-Gene-ral of Patents is required to prohibit the publication of information regarding patent claims relating, to atomic energy. A ban is placed oh applicants abroad for aptents of this nature and. residents of the United Kingdom without written permission.
