TRIESTE FOR ITALY
SUGGESTED SOLUTION OF PROBLEM LONDON, April 24. The " Big • Four " have virtually agreed on the Trieste issue, giving Italy the port and assigning most of the hinterland to Yugoslavia, says the Associated Press correspondent in Paris, quoting official quarters. The projected solution will be submitted to the Foreign Ministers' Conference by the special commission which concluded . the investigation on the spot 10 days ago. Britain is suggesting to Russia and America that the Italian Government might now be released from its undertaking, given two years ago, not to allow any official or public discussion about the future of the Italian monarchy, says ' The Times ' diplomatic correspondent. It was always intended that the Italians should have an opportunity of determining the future form of their* Government, and the British proposal is that the " monarchial truce" might now be ended so that the Italian Government may arrange a plebiscite on the question simultaneously with the general election on June 2.
