MCSGIEL'S COMMEMORATION ' The commemoration of Anzac Day in Mosgiel-was held in dull but dry weather, and the ceremony at the soldiers' monument in the park and at the service in the Town Hall were well at- . tended by residents of the town and district. A procession headed by the Band of the Fifth O.M.R. (armoured)-, under Conductor L. B. Borrow, marched from the High School gates in Church street, .along EactoryVroad and Gordon road to the park. In this "f" there was a good attendance of the local R.S.A. The procession encircled the soldiers' monument, and a short ceremony took place. A lament was played by the Taieri Highland Pipe Band, wreaths were placed on the monument (including one by the mavor (Mr W. P. Hartstonge, and one by "Mr C. Findlay, on behalf of the Taieri County Council), the 'Last Post ' and ' Revielle ' were sounded by Mr E. Kerr, and the Mosgiel Band played the National Anthem. - Following this, a service was held in the hall under the auspices of the Mosgiel Ministers' Association. Appropriate hymns were sung, a prayer offered, and a Scripture lesson read. Professor Collie presided, and the address was given by Brigadier A. S. Falconer, (18. E., D. 5.0., M.C., E.D. A double quartet party sang 'Deep Harmony,' and the service concluded with ' God Defend New Zealand ' and the Benediction. At St, Mary's Catholic Church earlier in the day a solemn requiem mass was sung, the Rev. Father Sexton officiating.

OUTRAM DISTRICT

The residents of Outram and district commemorated Anzac Day by holding a service in the Town Hall and a procession to the War Memorial in the centre of the town. The chairman or the local R.S.A. (Mr K. W. Reid) presided at the service, and the address was delivered bv Lieutenant-colonel H. H Parata. The Rev. H. H. Barton and Captain Rix (Mosgiel) took part in the service, and a sacred, solo was sung by Mr W. Bathgate. Suitable hymns were included in the programme, and the Roll of Honour for the district was read by the chairman. Wreaths were laid on the Soldiers Memorial while the procession halted there. 'The Last Post ' was sounded at the close of the ceremony.
