STADIUM FOR HORCE (N.Z. Offie.al Correspondent with tae J-Force V YAMAGUCHI, April 2,5. The Japanese sports stadium at Yamaguchi, which during the war was used as a testing track for vehicles, is now being used by the New Zealanders stationed in that area. The stadium is fully equipped with a 400metre dirt track and has seating accommodation for several thousand spectators. The stadium will be the site of the first major sporting fixture among units at Yamaguchi. Interunit athletic competitions will be held between May 1 and 3. Swimming baths 40 metres long have also been requisitioned for use by the troops;. Because the land is too closely, cultivated in the. Yamaguchi area, football is not included in the sports to be played. Basketball, is however, in full swing, with 30 teams from different units playing in the competition, which is>takng place in a former school gymnasium near the camp. Teams are now being organised, for baseball and cricket, for which the weather is suitable.
