NEW ROLLS-ROYCE ENGINE LONDON, April 10 The Rolls -Hoyce Company has announced details of " Nene," a jetpropulsion engine which the company claims will enable a 'single-engined fighter to fly at the same speed as the Gloster ' Meteor which established a world record of 606 miles an hour with two Derwent engines. " Nene " is described as the Derwent's big brother. It has a thrust of 5.000!b, which is the equivalent of 1,500 horsepower at 600 miles an hour, yet it weighs only 1,5501 b.
