RUHR GOAL DOWN
" FILL OUR STOMACHS AND WE'LL FILL WAGONS" FRANCE CANT SET MORE (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 14. "A further reduction in the Ruhr coal output and its allocation to the receiving countries is likely unless the world food situation improves in the near future," said the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Mr J. B. Hynd, at a Press conference at Essen at the conclusion of the Anglo-French coal conference. Drawing attention to the marked drop in production since the recent cut of German food rations, Mr Hynd warned that further cuts were likely if the food situation did not improve. The Ruhr miners, who were chalking on the walls while the British-French talks were going on, slogans such as " Fill our stomachs, and we will fill the coal wagons," would suffer along with other Germans. Renter expresses the view that Mr Hynd's statement makes it clear that ■it" is impossible at present to grant France's demand for a bigger allocation of Ruhr coal.
