NATIONAL PARTY
ST. CLAIR BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of members of the St. Clair branch of the National Party, within the Dunedin South Electorate, was held last night in the St. Clair Presbyterian Church Hall The annual report was presented by the chairman, Mr H. Chapman, who reviewed the work of the branch during the year. The report was adopted. Mr Chapman was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year, at the head of a strong committee. ■Mr E. J. Smith, chairman of the Otago-Southland Division, during the course of a short address, stressed the need for active work among the branches, which were the life of the organisation. Mr D. Murdoch, chairman of the Dunedin South Electorate, also spoke. At the conclusion of the business of the meeting, four of Mr G. W. Johnstone’s singing pupils, the Misses J. Mearns, L. Pile, N. Moody, and Mrs R. Howison, entertained with some delightful vocal numbers. Miss Rona Thomson was the accompanist. Following a vote of thanks to the performers, the evening concluded with supper provided by the ladies of the branch.'
