MAGISTRATE’S COURT
TUESDAY, MARCH 19. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT. Judgment for the plaintiffs was given in the following undefended case: — Howortli Radio Service v. W. H. Samson, £3 17s 8d with costs (£1 4s 6d), balance on work done and goods supplied. CLAIM FOR POSSESSION. Possession of a house situated at 29 Shetland street was sought by Elizabeth Thomson, a married woman, who was represented by Mr R. A. King. The defendant was Mrs Alma Bell, for whom Mr C. H. Stevens appeared. Plaintiff gave evidence that she purchased the property with the object of finding a home for her son, who was then overseas, and a daughter. The tenant then seemed | keen _to relinquish the property, otherwise she would not have bought it. She was at present living with her son-in-law, making 10 people in a very small house. Alternative accommodation had been found for the defendant, but she had not availed herself of it. Defendant said slie had three children, and also there was a returned soldier and his wife and child staying with her. The alternative accommodation was unsuitable. In the opinion of the Court, suitable alternative accommodation had not been made available. No order was made.
