RUGBY FOOTBALL

PIRATES CLUB Mr L. M. Wright presided over an attendance of 80 members at the annual meeting of the Pirates football Club last night. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the President congratulated the club on its excellent performance during the past season, and extended a welcome to the members of the club who had returned from active service. He also congratulated the club on its sound financial position. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Reference was made to the services which the late Mr D. M. Speddiug had given to the Pirates Football Club and to tlie advancement of the interests of ltugby football generally. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr Crosby Morris; president, Mr L. M. Wright; vice-presidents— Messrs N. Hurring, L. A. Giles, I. Glendining, and D. Palmer; club captain, Mr D. Hamilton; deputy club captain, Mr M. Garden; hon. secretary, Mr L. H. Harris; lion, assistant secretary, Mr J. B. Manson; hon. treasurer, Mr R. J. Cook; committee — Messrs R. .Johnston, W. Perriam, G. Nelson, T. Graham, N. H. Lawson, and S. Hislop; hon. auditors, Messrs W. Jones and E. Olfrey; delegates to O.R.F.U.—Messrs L. M. Wright, D. A. Palmer, and l. Glendining; delegate to the Junior Advisory Committee, Mr M. K. Nelson; Senior Selection Committee, Messrs L. A. Giles and T. Graham; Junior Selection Committee, Messrs N. A. Lawson and E. Ottrey. Messrs L. A. Giles and R. J. Cook were elected life members. The delegates to the annual meeting of the 0.R.8’.U. were instructed to bring forward the following motion;— “That no,player over the age of 21 years on April 1 of each year should be eligible to take part in the third grade competition.” The opening day was fixed for April G.
