NOT FOR SALE
EL NIDO MATERNITY HOME PRESENT OWNER TO GARRY ON The maternity hospital, " El Nido," on which the Otago Hospital Board held an option, was not for sale, said Sister A. M. Angus, the owner, in a letter received at the board meeting last night. Sister Angus advised the board that she intended to carry on the hospital herself. " As, Sister Angus now wishes to carry on, nothing would be gained by the board exercising its option," said, the chairman, Dr D. G. McMillan. " All that we wanted to ensure when we took the option over the property last month," he said, " was that the hospital was not going to be lost as a maternity home. If the present owner is willing to carry on. it will save us a lot of trouble." Dr McMillan added that if at any future date the home was about to he sold, the board could take it over under the Public Works Act to prevent it being lost as a maternity hospital.
