—Air Passengers.— Passengers for the south yesterday were Mr R. J. Gilmour. Mr C, Dagg, Mr F.'Graham, Mr E. A. Wallace, Mr Cook. Passengers for the north to-day wereMr A. Tilbury (for Christcburch), Mr and Mrs F. Johnstone, Mr 8. Smith, Mr I. Dicon, Mr F, Osborne, Mr J, Hamel (for Wellington), Miss M. Faucis, Mrs M. White, Miss K. Martin (for Auckland). Mr Norman Thomson, who ban been clerk of the Vocational Guidance Centre for the last 1Q years, was ontertained at afternoon tea tO'day by the staff on his retirement. An appreciative reference was made to the part Mr Thomson had played in helping to establish vocational guidance ia Dunedin, and his colleagues in the centre presented him with a garden chair Mr Thomson will nrake his home at Waikouaiti, Squadron-leader R, J, K, Hogg, D. 5.0., D.F.C., who was, with his wif,e, a member of the Qtranto draft of , servicemen, returned to Christchurch on Friday last, after spending a fortnight with bis parents at Qtekaike. Mr George E. King was unanimously elected a life member of the Canterbury Commercial Travellers' arid Wars* housemen's Association at the association's thirty-second annual meeting, Mr King is a former president of tha association, and also a former presj* dent of the United Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association of New Zealand. Mr C. J. Roberts, of the staff of the Hawera ' Star,' is at present paying a holiday visit to Dunedin, following military service overseas. The special London correspondent of the New Zealand Press Association states that the Air Ministry has of* fered permanent commissions In the R.A.F, to Group-captain A. F. Cloustan, Wing-commanders L, J. Joel, R,N.Z.A,F„ W. P, Kemp, R.N.Z.A.F., and Squadron4eader P. F, St, George, R.N.Z.A.F. It is understood that Mr R,' M. Campbell, Acting. High Commissioner, who Mr P, Fraser recently mentioned would have a " roving commission," will sail for New Zealand nest week, says the special London correspondent of the N.Z.P.A, There he will be en-, gaged in discussions with the Minister of Finance, Mr W, Nash, before returning to England with him and tha New Zealand delegation to attend tha Imperial economic and trade talks beginning on May IS. He will also attend the trade conference of 15 nations scheduled to begin pn July 1. Later in the year it is understood ho may take up a Government position in the United States, Mr Campbell during bis 10 years in London, was first economic advisor to the High Commissioner, then official secretary, His eventual departure from Lon»U»u will, from a personal viewpoint, h» widely regretted among New Zealanders.
