COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT FLIGHT (Rec. 12.35 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, February 11. The Lockheed Constellation aircraft landed at Johannesburg from New York, setting up what is claimed to be a world record for a commercial aircraft—a non-stop flight of 3,370 miles between Cairo and N'Changa (Northern Rhodesia). The aircraft covered 9,792 miles between New York and Johannesburg. Flying time was 39h 28m. The plane touched at Shannon, Rome, Athens, Cairo, and N'Changa.
