U.K. CHILD EVACUEES
THANKS FOR DOMINION'S HOSPITALITY *P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. The Acting Prime Minister. Rt. Hon. W. Nash, released to-day the following message olf thanks received from Lord Addison, the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, for the hospitality extended in New Zealand to the children evacuated from the United Kingdom to New Zealand earlier in the war: — " Now that the last party of children evacuated to New Zealand under the children's overseas reception scheme lias returned to the United Kingdom. 1 wish, on behalf of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom, to offer our grateful thanks to His Majesty's Government in NewZealand and to all those foster parents, officials, school teachers, and' private citizens throughout New Zealand who have cared for our children so genu"couslv and sympathetically while they were overseas. We appreciate the fact that the responsibility for these children must have pressed heavily at times, especially as the strain of war increased, but the, patience of all those "oncerned with their welfare has never 'failed. We shall always remember the understanding, kindness, and generosity of the people of New Zealand to our children in the time of our great •leed. and we are erlad to think that links have heen formed between the parents of the children and the foster nn rents in the two countries, which tiro Imsprl on real affection as well as imtiti'dc I shall be grateful if you .< : tl convey nnr thanks and apprecia- '•"■' to all those concerned in New Zealand."'
